Blane Bachelor is an Atlanta-based, award-winning writer and editor.

Her background in newspapers has paved the way for a successful freelance career, during which she’s written for Marie Claire, FOXNews.com, USA Today, Modern Bride, Islands and many others. She also writes a weekly advice column entitled Ask a Bachelor, which appears in Atlanta’s The Sunday Paper. In addition, she writes for trade publications, news agencies and corporate clients, including American Express and Turner.

Blane’s specialty is lifestyle pieces, including health and fitness, travel and profiles, but she’s a generalist at heart. She’s enjoyed writing about an extraordinary array of topics: South American tea, dog training, Latino players in Major League Baseball, hot yoga, New Year’s resolutions, soccer, energy bars, fly fishing and dozens of others. One assignment took her to a deep, dark coal mine in Chile; another had her chatting over tea about premarital sex with Dr. Ruth. Blane also speaks Spanish, which has allowed her to secure some interesting assignments.

Blane is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors. For three years, she has also been a volunteer hostess for Media Bistro, an online media forum with a presence in most major cities. In 2007, she won an honorable mention from the Magazine Association of Georgia for a travel story that appeared in H2O Magazine. She has participated on several panel discussions and also speaks to local students about writing.

Blane is a graduate of the University of Florida’s esteemed College of Journalism. When she’s not on deadline, she enjoys running, yoga, photography and cheering for her beloved Gators.
